TASK 3: Previous Student Title Sequence Evaluation
This is Grey Area, a title sequence from last years Media class. I like this title sequence quite a bit. It's tense, filmed pretty well (in some parts), and is well edited. It seems to depict a chase between two people down a street (the police seems involved somewhat, due to sirens wailing in the background, though they are never seen), into an alley, and ends with a gun 'fight'. This one clearly isn't particularly plot heavy, but manages to get its 'point' across I guess. The music was fairly generic 'tense' music, which 'complemented' the already tense and 'exciting' visuals. The credits were implemented quite well into the opening. It usually fades in between parts of the chase, and there is a good 'glitch' effect to the text during the credits. I also like the effect done to the main title of the film, where the colours shift/fade into grey. It was a nice touch. Some problems would be that it lasts a bit too long, and the shaking camera gets a bit intense at times, making quite a few shots incredibly difficult to see what's happening in it, or even comprehend what's happening on certain occasions (such as the shot showing the two running from the side). Though the film doesn't really try to do anything 'new' or 'original' (that probably wasn't even the point, anyway), it still got what it wanted to do done fairly well. The chase was quite tense and engaging, despite being a tad bit too long, and use of props to substitute for a fake gun was well done, the opening was well edited and a few shots were pretty good. Overall, this was a fairly well made opening, despite not many things being explained or understood and the plot practically being non-existent (that's not their fault though).
