KYLE COOPER OPENINGS

Kyle Cooper

Kyle Cooper is an American title sequence designer. Cooper is accredited with 'the man who single handily revitalized the title sequence as an art form'.
In the interview Cooper tells us what makes a good title sequence which are:
-set a expectation
-go seamlessly into the movie
-make the audience excited

Talks about the importance about the font that's used in the film SEVEN. He explains how it was hand etched in to a  black-surface scratch board and manipulated during the film transfer process. He combined the hand drawn with Helvetian to show the character emotions and what kind of mind the character got but overall  "to be like the killer did the film optical himself."

Cooper got his inspiration from two well know films 'Dead zone' and 'To kill a mocking Bird'.
He likes Dead zone for the simple typography and the music and as for Mocking Bird he likes the treasure box, objects and the forms of lines.

The similarity:
-both in black and white
-In to killing the mocking bird the drawings are really rough, quick and the lines are thick that's kind of present anger. Cooper uses the same thing but in SEVEN the writing is thick , dark , quick , the pen does not touch the paper that much.
-In Seven there more cutting and put thing together, whereas, in Killing mocking bird, the girl covers the bird with black chalk then torn  it apart.
-We do not see the characters in both title sequences, we only see's the hands.
